this is like something a political cartoonist would draw as a heavy-handed metaphor for race relations in the US
EXCEPT IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED

But racism was oh so long ago.
LOL…but this was in my lifetime, though.

This photo was taken in Boston at the height of the busing hysteria in 1976. The Black man is Ted Landsmark. At the time, he was an attorney on his way to a meeting at City Hall. These white racist assholes at an anti-busing rally at City Hall attacked Landsmark because he was black, and tried to kill him. A disgusting, disgraceful act, and one of the reasons I don’t fuck with Boston.

Bu…but…ALL THE RACISM IS IN THE SOUTH!

I hear Boston is still racist as fuck, and I’ve had a bunch of folks suggest that as a place for post-grad work :|
